Sports, healthy competition, and Christian values were all on display Saturday, May 16, at the final of the Volleyball Tournament organized by the Youth Department of the East Adventist Association. This initiative brought together young people from various churches and districts in an environment of fellowship, recreation, and spiritual strengthening.

The sporting event, coordinated by the youth director, Pastor Bernardino Arocho, served as a space for integration where teams from different congregations demonstrated talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. Participating churches and districts included Campo Rico, Luquillo, Metropolis, Hillside, Bayamón, Río Grande, Villa Carolina, and Cayey.

The event reflected the Adventist Church's commitment to the holistic development of youth by promoting activities that foster healthy lifestyles, positive relationships, and Christian principles in a safe and constructive environment.

During the final matches, the Río Grande team faced Luquillo for the championship, while Cayey and Bayamón competed for third place. After intense games that demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication, and teamwork, Cayey took third place, Luquillo second, and Río Grande was crowned tournament champion.

Pastor Arocho emphasized the importance of these initiatives for Adventist youth, noting that they are a fundamental tool for keeping young people involved in positive environments that reinforce their values and steer them away from negative influences.

“These activities are necessary because they allow our youth to participate in healthy environments, develop positive friendships, and remain focused on principles that contribute to their holistic growth,” he said.

The Youth Department of the East Adventist Conference reaffirms its mission to impact new generations through programs that integrate faith, recreation, and service. The church continues to create spaces where young people can grow, share, and develop their talents for the glory of God.
